Supportive Counseling

Looking to have another perspective on what you feel is contributing to your distress or compromising your health and wellbeing? Maybe the ‘big picture’ is still not clear? Is your life complicated by prior traumatic experiences?

Even if you are not quite ready to make this first step, please just read the next few paragraphs?

When you first learned to do something (for instance, walking), it took several failed attempts and falls. Eventually you learned to control your falling (or avoid failing). But for some, the fear of falling (and failing) develops because it was just too ‘painful’ to keep falling/failing - both psychologically and physically. Because of this pain, some individuals develop compulsions or simply have difficulty living fully because they have developed a dysfunctional relationship with life’s stressors or situations.

Sometimes memories of “pain” make it necessary to set up barriers to sustaining relationships, exercise, adequate nutrition and restorative sleep so as to avoid other negative feelings and/or memories.

But without supportive relationships to reinforce our feelings of safety - without a healthy metabolism to thrive - without balance nutrition to provide the buildingblocks of nerves and muscles - without sleep to assist the brain in integrating memories of the day’s activities AND rest to heal from physical stress and trauma - our neurological and immune systems can only become dysfunctional.

It is our neurohormonal chemistry that determines how we feel - both psychologically and physically. Without adequate support of the body and mind, there is no foundation upon which to build a healthy and well-balanced lifetime. Another way of thinking about it - without a margin of resources, there is no mission one can successfully undertake.

Let the Specialists within NORTH SHORE OSTEOPATHIC introduce you to a new approach to those struggling with psychic pain or distress, somatic presentations and conditions borne through prior experiences, trauma and grief.

NORTH SHORE OSTEOPATHIC and its Specialists are here to help you recognize how your brain is trying to fulfill its role in survival as a Unique Being - AND how physical and psychological presentations are one way that the brain and/or body are trying to gain control back and optimize how you function.

We can help your body learn to walk again and reconstitute itself after a journey that you’ve already started. Maybe we can help you prepare better for a new journey ahead?

Whether joining one of us for individualized appointments, collaborating with several of us, or joining our All-Inclusive Team-Based Model of Care, please believe that we will do our best to mindfully help you assess and manage whatever concerns you present to us.

Know that each of us are here to offer help and are willing to integrate our skillsets to help you explore and re-establish the link between the nervous system and the body it controls - the two of which have always been connected.
